Watch a painting happen...

I am a firm believer that in art there is no such thing as the "right" way or the "correct" way to do a painting. So, what you will be watching if you follow this series is only "my way." Explore and find "your way."

Couple of things first:

This feels like "performance art" and there is no guarantee of a good outcome. This performance is live with no rehearsals - it may work out, it may not. I may junk the painting at any step in the process. Hopefully, I will have a painting that I want to keep when we finish. If I blow it, I will start another one until we finish one together. So, please jump on board and watch a painting happen.

I will identify products that I use by brand name and do not do this as an endorsement. In all cases there are competing products that will do, I am sure, an equally good job as the ones that I use. Or, there are competing products that fit your style of painting better than the ones that I use. These products that I name are only my choices of the moment and are usually choices of habit and convenience.

How this is organized:

I am using a Step One, Step Two, etc. process and those steps will be posted in the column to the right as they are finished. Each Step will show a date, the date it was posted.

If you have questions or comments as I go along, please feel free to email comments@jamesahumphrey.com and I will address those questions and comments as my time permits.
