| Watch a painting happen... Painting Three, Step Five Shell values... As I said earlier, I feel I paint too much without description in these demonstrations. I have vowed to break the painting process into smaller and hopefully more understandable segments as this demonstration progresses. In general, the values of the shell I am establishing with Yellow Ocher, a bit of Burnt Umber and a touch of Prussian Blue. This mixture, I thin with varying amounts of water for relative light and dark values. With that basis, I plan to show you a progression of just the shell as I establish its values. |

| Above is a larger image of the shell with values established to the degree that I will execute at this time. The shell is there. I can finesse it later if I desire. Then I turn back to the painting in its totality shown below. My attention focuses on the table mat. I feel a need for the painting to move forward together. The shell feels alone and needs company, the company of a more developed remainder of the painting. I will paint the place mat first, then go from there where the painting leads me. | ||||||||
