Painting Two, Step Nine

The Big Wipe Out...

To the right, with a rag and clean water, I have removed most of the interior of the tree. I also increased the shear effect in the same manner.

The painting is at an uncomfortable stage and I am certainly not sure that I can pull this one out. Looks pretty dismal.

This is one of the exciting things about working in watercolor. When things aren't cool, just wipe it away! But it doesn't always work. We just have to wait and see.

And on your right, I have begun the struggle back from the big wipe out. First, I am attempting to bring back what was good with the orange tree, the color battle with the sky. At the same time the main goal is to unify the painting into one nice look and feel. To do that, my instincts tell me more of the painting must be more completely developed. So, I have worked more shadow into the foreground and will explore the two horses' development.

First, the brown horse as shown below.
