Painting One, Step Six

Cold front came in...

To the left was pre-cerullian blue, above is post-wash. A cold front came in. But more than that, the snow has taken on an icy look, completely by accident. That's one of the wonders of watercolor, things happen that you don't anticipate which can be taken advantage of. Texas snow looks more like the ice above.
Now that it is colder, I worked in more brush in the middle foreground and defined the cactus patch a little more as you see on the right.

The painting is at a juncture. Now most of the overall tone and composition is in. Something may strike me later but if that happens, we will deal with it then. I wanted to show you the painting at this awkward stage because foreground detail will soon dominate this underpainting.

It will be several days, I am sure, before I post the next step so by now you need a break. Take it.
