Original watercolor painting, 4' x 8'. This large watercolor painting features a bend in the Brazos River near Possum Kingdom Lake in North Central Texas, about 80 miles North West of Dallas/Fort Worth. Folks from other parts of the United States usually imagine Texas as a sweltering hot region with little natural water, few rivers and dry-bed lakes. They imagine color as nonexistent or at best as variations of burnt brown. Forget Hollywood. Texas is a rich state visually that can be (with drought and selected desert) as Hollywood paints it. However that painting is most deceiving. I choose to paint the Texas that I know -- a world of color, fresh with promise and new opportunity around each river's bend. |
