Waiting for Brooklyn
Original oil painting, 3' x 4'. Grandchildren explode into one's life. My first grandchild, a granddaughter, entered my life about two years ago and inspired another of my paintings, "Inside the Claw Machine," but this painting is more directly impacted. Big Bear, one of her favorite stuffed animals, sits on the top of the sofa against the light streaming through shutters. The painting expresses the paitience and melencholy of waiting time and is almost a self-portrait of the artist waiting for Brooklyn. |
